Ariana Grande first artist since The Beatles to claim top three Hot 100 spots

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande just accomplished something only one musical artist or group has also previously achieved — and that group is The Beatles.

She currently holds the top three positions on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart simultaneously.

Debuting at number one is 7 rings, while number two is break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored, and thank u, next is at number three (after previously dropping to number seven).

All the songs are from her newest album, thank u, next. That album also soard to number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

In the Hot 100’s 60-year history, Grande is only the second musical artist to achieve such a feat.

Before her, The Beatles first earned the honor in 1964 for five straight weeks. For one week, the British band claimed the top five spots. Their top three hits were Can’t Buy Me Love, Twist and Shout and Do You Want to Know a Secret, respectively.

As Billboard ironically points out, The Beatles sang about how ‘money can’t buy me love’, while in Grande’s number one she declares ‘retail therapy my new addiction’.

A good year for the singer

Following tragedy — the Manchester bombing and death of her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller — Grande had a critically successful year.

Prior to this, she became the first woman to land at number one on the Hot 100 in three years. Billboard also named her their Woman of the Year.

Many of her fans also want to see her play Elphaba in the upcoming Wicked movie adaptation.
