Armie Hammer has spoken about the possibility of a Call Me By Your Name sequel.

Call My By Your Name follows a teenager and a 20-something who embark on a passionate gay love affair in 80s Italy.

‘I’d be like, “I’m in”‘

Hammer is quoted by the National Post as saying: ‘If they actually came to me and were like, “Hey we’re doing another one.” I’d be like, “I’m in.”’

However, he elsewhere in the article admitted to reservations about a sequel.

‘It was so unique and really one of the most creative and satisfying things I have ever done,’ he said. ‘Part of me is like, we should never go back and try to do anything like that again.’

The Social Network star Armie recently won a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe nomination for his role in the film. Meanwhile his costar Timothee Chalamet was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

’I want to do a sequel’

The movie’s director, Luca Guadagnino, has previously teased the idea of continuing Elio and Oliver’s story.

According to ScreenDaily he said at the BFI London Film Festival: ’I want to do a sequel because Timothée Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar, Esther Garrel — they are all gems.’

The auteur furthermore suggested he might wait a number of years before resuming the story.

He furthermore explained: ‘If I paired the age of Elio in the film with the age of Timothée, in three years’ time Timothée will be 25 as would Elio by the time the second story was set.’

A similar format was famously used in Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy’s ‘Before’ trilogy. The films, which revisit two lovers every nine years, have received critical acclaim.

Fingers and toes crossed that this happens!
