Gay sex scenes may stop Armie Hammer’s mom seeing Call Me By Your Name: ‘She’s more conservative’

Armie Hammer in the movie Mine

Armie Hammer’s mother may avoid his new movie Call Me By Your Name, the actor says, because of gay sex scenes.

The romantic drama, also starring Timothee Chalamet, features a gay relationship between a teenager and a 20-something.

Mine actor Armie made the admission in an interview with Mr Porter.

‘It’s always awkward to say, “Come to this movie where you can see my ass and watch me give a blow job.”‘ he explains. ‘My mum is more conservative. I don’t know if she’ll see it.’

However, he says his more openminded dad will likely see the film. ‘ I think that he would have the capacity to get it and be proud of me for doing this work,’ he said.

‘Everybody wrestles with the same demons’

Hammer also touched on last week’s storm over the BuzzFeed article Ten Long Years of Trying to Make Armie Hammer Happen, where the star’s priviledged background was called into question.

‘There is that misconception that, “Oh, you grew up in a wealthy family so you must have got it easier”‘ he said.

‘I probably had opportunities that other people didn’t have. But I guarantee that other people didn’t have [parents] beating into their skull that they were the “representation of the family.”‘

He furthermore continued: ‘That was not the easiest pill to swallow. People might look at me and think my life is so perfect, but everybody wrestles with the same demons.’

In other Armie news, it was this week announced that he will make his Broadway debut next year in play Straight White Men.
