Barbra Streisand is a diva in many ways.
For example, do you know she has a shopping mall underneath her house? What about making entire TV sets be switched around to fit her ‘good side’? Painting Oprah’s mic white?
But now our Barbra has got a little bit more ridiculous.
She’s revealed she has cloned her dog.
Barbra told Variety that two of her dogs, Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett, are clones.
Their genetic DNA were taken from cells of the mouth and stomach of her Coton du Tulear Samantha, who died in 2017.
Why did Barbra Streisand clone her dog?
‘They have different personalities,’ Barbra said.
‘I’m waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have [Samantha’s] brown eyes and seriousness’.
Barbra also has a third dog, a distant cousin of Samantha’s.
A breeder brought the dog, whose mother had been named Funny Girl, and Barbra was obsessed.
She adopted the new dog and called her Miss Fanny. This is how Fanny Brice’s dresser refers to the character in the iconic movie.
YesBarbra dresses the dogs in red and lavender to tell them apart.
And if you thought this was just about the wacky ways of a person with way too much money, be relieved she has a sense of humor.
When Variety photographed her and her three dogs at her Malibu estate, she had a caption suggestion:
It was ‘Send in the Clones’.
