The annual BeefDip festival in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, continues to grow in strength each year.
Aimed at gay bears and their admirers, the week-long event is now drawing to a close. It attracts gay guys from all over the world, but with most coming from the United States. Much of the action takes places at the Mantamar Beach Club and Blue Chairs resort.
There are daily pool parties, plus events like ‘bearaoke’ and regular excursions – such as swimming in Banderas bay, whale watching or zip-lining through a local treetop canopy.
Others just choose to relax by the pool or explore this quaint and scenic vacation town. It lies on the Pacific coast in the state of Jalisco. Pretty pink and white bougainvillea line the quiet streets of its ‘Zona Romantica’, in the shadows of the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
BeefDip offers something for everybody – particularly if they’re a fan of bears!
‘I think what brings everyone back to BeefDip is Puerto Vallarta,’ says one attendee, Luke Layfield.
‘It’s an incredible setting with beautiful beaches and some really great food. Plus, you can walk everywhere. You could put any group of like minded strangers here, and they’re going to have the best time.’
‘Great way to make new friends’
One of the week’s highlights was the ‘booze cruise’, which had around several hundred guys on four boats.
‘Now that was a fun day on the water and the beach with guys from all over the world,’ says attendee Christopher Hines, from Los Angeles.
‘What I like most about Beef Dip, aside from the stunning beauty of Puerto Vallarta, sandy beaches, warm water and sunshine, is the laid back vibe of the event. Everyone is friendly and comfortable in their own skin, accepting of all body types and ages. Not a lot of attitude. Great way to make new friends.’
