Sam Smith and Brandon Flynn celebrate New Year with a glass of Champagne

Hollywood actor Brandon Flynn has paid romantic tribute to Sam Smith after seeing the movie Call Me By Your Name.

The Oscar-tipped movie starring Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet focuses on a gay love story between a teen and a 20-something in 80s Italy.

13 Reasons Why actor Brandon saw it over New Year and was inspired to post about his ‘favorite things’ on 2018.

First up? A picture of himself enjoying a glass of Champagne with Too Good At Goodbyes singer Sam.

‘Hoping 2018 is full of ups and downs as well’

His message in full reads: ‘A few of my favorite things from 2017, as shit as some of it was can’t help but see all the good! Hoping 2018 is full of ups and downs as well… saw Call Me By Your Name today and couldn’t help myself…

‘”In your place, if there is pain, nurse it, and if there is a flame, don’t snuff it out, don’t be brutal with it. Withdrawal can be a terrible thing when it keeps us awake at night, and watching others forget us sooner than we’d want to be forgotten is no better.

“We rip out so much of ourselves to be cured of things faster than we should that we go bankrupt by the age of 30 and have less to offer each time we start with someone new. But to feel nothing so as not to feel anything—what a waste!”’

‘I’m quite happy, so it’s quite weird’

Rumors first started swirling that Sam and Brandon were dating last autumn. Sam, whose last album The Thrill Of It All reached number one in the US and the UK, later confirmed he was in a relationship on Ellen.

He told the US talk show host: ‘It’s weird bringing out an album and not being single. Because when I brought out [first album] In the Lonely Hour I was so lonely. But now I’m singing songs about another guy, I’m quite happy, so it’s quite weird.’
