Caitlyn Jenner came out as transgender in 2015.

Caitlyn Jenner, a long-time Republican, was a featured speaker at the College Republican National Committee convention gala on Friday 16 June. During her speech, she referenced the GOP baseball practice attack in Virginia, where Republican representative Steve Scalise was critically injured.

‘Liberals can’t even shoot straight,’ Jenner joked. The comment was caught on a Facebook Live video of the event, which the College Republican Federation of Virginia has since deleted.

‘Nobody deserves what happened out there,’ she reportedly said. ‘There’s no justification for it.’

‘There’s crazy people in the world — we know that. We have to minimize that kind of stuff. But, as far as the people who were injured, it’s an absolute shame. Fortunately, the guy was a really bad shot.’

Jenner was met with laughter and applause at the gala after this comment.

Now, Jenner is facing backlash over the comment, including from Will & Grace star Debra Messing.

Many on social media compared this comment to Jenner’s 2015 car crash which left a woman dead.

Jenner has yet to respond to the backlash.
