Caitlyn Jenner has revealed she has had gender confirmation surgery in January.
And most importantly, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has said it will be the first and last time she will ever talk about it.
‘The surgery was a success, and I feel not only wonderful but liberated,’ she wrote in her upcoming memoir The Secrets of My Life.
‘I am telling you because I believe in candor – so all of you can stop staring.
‘You want to know, so now you know. Which is why this is the first time, and the last time, I will ever speak of it.’
The 67-year-old wrote she had reservations about having the procedure due to her age.
‘So why even consider it? Because it’s just a penis,’ she explains in an excerpt published by Radar.
‘It has no special gifts or use for me other than what I have said before, the ability to take a whiz in the woods. I just want to have all the right parts. I am also tired of tucking the damn thing in all the time.’
Very few trans people in the US have the opportunity to have vaginoplasty, often due to choice, health and cost. The National Center for Transgender Equality states only 12% of trans woman have the surgery.
Jenner’s memoir, The Secrets of my Life, is in stores on 25 April.
