Grammy-winning artist Carrie Underwood released a new song from her forthcoming album and people are claiming it as a powerful LGBTI and diversity anthem.
The title of the song? Love Wins.
While there are no explicit lyrics about the LGBTI community, the title is a clear reference to the popular slogan when marriage equality became the law of the lan in the United States in 2015.
The lyrics of the song, however, are still powerful in their own right.
‘Politics and prejudice/How the hell’d it ever come to this?’ she croons after singing about a son being shot and dying.
The chorus goes like this: ‘I believe you and me are sisters and brothers/I believe we’re made to be here for each other. We’ll never fall if we walk hand-in-hand/Put a world that seems broken together again.
‘I believe in the end love wins.’
Love Wins is a single on her upcoming sixth studio album, Cry Pretty.
Underwood first rose to fame on the fourth season of American Idol, which she ultimately won in 2005.
Throughout her career, she’s won numerous Grammy Awards, CMT Awards, and Billboard Music Awards.

In an interview with Spotify, Underwood spoke about the song, saying it came about during a writing session when she was discussing division in the world.
