US fitness instructor, Shaun T, famed for his ‘Insanity’ workout is to become a dad.

In a cute video posted to his Instagram account over the weekend, Shaun and husband Scott Blokker revealed that they are expecting twins with a surrogate.

The two men, who celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary last Thursday, revealed the news with a series of flash cards bearing the words of a poem.

The words reveal the couple have been trying to start a family for some time, with reference to ‘5 years of challenges, 5 years of wait’.

The full rhyme runs as follows.

‘Some things come easy, something take time,

‘Struggles can be real, but with them you’ll find,

‘Things happen for a reason. Sometimes you never know why,

‘But never give up and remember it’s OK to cry,

‘5 years of challenges, 5 years of wait,

‘Ups, downs in emotion, painful blows we’d take,

‘But we learned to stay the course, hope and prayer wins,

‘And we’re happy to finally announce…. we’re having twins!’

At the end of the video, their surrogate mom appears – from the neck down – visibly heavily pregnant.

‘Beyond exciting’

Shaun T has over 670,000 followers on Instagram, and the clip has garnered over 8,000 comments in 48 hours. There is no news yet on a due date for the babies, or their sex.

However, the couple elaborated on their journey to People magazine, saying that they’d begun trying to start a family shortly after marrying in 2012.

They said they’d made 11 failed attempts at surrogacy. Thankfully, the 12th attempt had been successful. They didn’t offer further details, other than Shaun praising their ‘amazing’ surrogate as ‘our angel.’

The couple said they found out their surrogate was pregnant on Shaun’s 39th birthday on 2 May. They have kept the news secret for the past five months.

The prospect of becoming parents is ‘beyond exciting,’ said Blokker.

‘We literally couldn’t be happier and more excited,’ said Shaun.
