LadyRock Festival is running a competition to win a 15-minute performance slot on their main stage.
The first all women’s festival in Manchester will take place on 26 May, aiming to bring ‘girl power’ to the 21st century.
The winner of the LadyRock Idol contest will get to appear on the same stage as the festival's headline acts KT Tunstall, New Young Pony Club and Jess Mills.
Founder and director of LadyRock Jackie Crozier said: ‘I really believe that LadyRock Idol and the main stage slot for an up-and-coming artist or group could provide the huge stepping stone that they need.
'That is why I really wanted to introduce this competition. It will also be a great way of proving that new and non-commercial acts have the ability to hold a main stage and its audience just as well as the big girls (and boys).’
Other acts playing at LadyRock Festival include the Arcadian Kicks, Heather Peace and Big Brother UK-winning DJ Kate Lawler.
