A Californian bakery has come under fire for reportedly turning away a lesbian couple.

Cathy Miller, the owner of Tastries Bakery, says the bakery has been turning same-sex couples away for five years.

According to Miller, same-sex couples she has turned away have never caused her much trouble before. Then she turned Eileen Del Rio away who was not impressed.

Del Rio took to her Facebook to complain.

She posted: ‘Well this rude ass person says I will make your order but I don’t condone same sex marriages and will have no part in this process.

‘Oh but you want to take my order and give it another bakery so that bakery can do it. #discrimination #mustbeadondaldtrumpsupporter #rude.’

‘There are just certain things that violate my conscience’

The bakery’s Facebook has been flooded with comments attacking the bakery.

‘Shame on this business for turning away a gay couple and use the excuse of religion. Only God can judge,’ said one person.

Another said: ‘I never knew that buttercream came with a side of bigotry.’

One Facebook commenter said: ‘I hope they lose their privilege of doing business in my country which has laws to protect against discrimination.’

Some people even shared an image saying: Boycott Tastries.

Miller doesn’t seem to understand how she has been offending people though.

In a TV interview she said she is ‘really hurt’ by the backlash her bakery has been recieving.

She said to 23ABC News: ‘Here at Tastries, we love everyone… my husband and I are Christians and we know that God created everyone and he created everyone equal. So it’s not that we don’t like people of certain groups of people, there are just certain things that violate my conscience.’
