Christian NFL quarterback Kirk Cousins on welcoming a gay teammate: ‘Nobody’s perfect’

Kirk Cousins, the back-up quarterback for the Washington Redskins, does not see a problem with having a gay teammate – from a football standpoint at least.

But the devout Christian would still want to lead the teammate with ‘a homosexual lifestyle’ to Jesus.

"From a football standpoint, if the guy can help us win, come help us win,’ Cousins said to an audience of high school students in Michigan during a Q&A last week.

The gay player would not be the only sinner in the locker room, according to Cousins.

‘Now, there are a lot of teammates in my locker room right now who may not have a homosexual lifestyle, but they have sins, too,’ he said. ‘They’re not perfect. So I don’t say they can’t help us win. Nobody’s perfect.’

So what would happen if Michael Sam or another openly gay player joined the Redskins is this: ‘We’d welcome him into our locker room and say come help us win, and hopefully I can love him like Jesus and hopefully show him what it means to follow Jesus.’
