Peter Kay is getting boos, and laughs, for his surprise appearance on tonight’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
The comic, according to the Daily Mail, pretended to be a staff member of the Blackpool ballroom. He came on stage, dressed in a yellow jacket, after host Claudia said she needed help in reading the rules of the show.
After interacting with the contestants, the comic turned his attention to Judge Rinder.
‘Hang on let me say hello to this fellow, he’s fantastic,’ Kay said.
The two men hugged, but Kay quickly backed away.
‘Steady,’ Kay said, before pointing to his backside. ‘Watch it my lad! This case is firmly closed!’
The joke earned a good laugh on set, but some on Twitter exploded:

However, there were many others who considered the quip funny and came to the comic’s defense.
If what Peter Kay said was homophobic I’d hate to see people would react if they ever experienced REAL homophobia pic.twitter.com/rlHW2aSXhQ
