Conservative radio talk host insists no US state has ever banned gay marriage

Opponents to same-sex marriage in the US have given up on rationality.

Take Michel Medved. He’s a conservative radio host and today, 7 March, was on a panel at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

The CPAC is a yearly confab where conservatives meet and greet. Think of it as the political equivalent to a Star Trek convention.

Medved’s panel was Can Libertarians and Social Conservatives Ever Get Along? and he made this passionate statement:

‘There has never been a state in this country that has ever banned gay marriage,’ he fumed. ‘That is a liberal lie.’

As the site Talking Points Memo notes, this theory fails utterly because ’30 states have banned same-sex marriage in their state constitution, usually by legally defining marriage as between a man and a woman…’

TPM got its info from the Human Rights Campaign.

Right Wing Watch has a clip of Medved’s creative history. What’s more heart warming, however, is the gentleman next to him.

He gently corrects Medved on the facts and calls marriage equality the ‘civil rights issue of the twenty-first century.’

GSN loves conservatives who talk to their political allies about LGBTI freedom.
