Drag sensation Courtney Act was named runner-up of Dancing With The Stars Australia 2019 on Monday (22 April).
She made history as the first drag contestant to compete on the show and the first to first same-sex couple to dance on the Australian series.
But, she missed out on the Mirror Ball to Samuel Johnson. ‘I just want to say Courtney is the better dancer,’ the actor said, later adding: ‘I am trying to kick cancer in the face, help me!’
‘We didn’t win the Mirror Ball, but I feel like we won by being able to share so many dances and stories over the last 10 weeks’ Courtney wrote on Twitter.
Courtney, who is also known as Shane Jenek, had promised the US$35,000 prize fund to Black Rainbow which is a suicide prevention organization for LGBTI Indigenous people.
But, not everyone was so quick to accept Courtney’s second place.
Totally heartbroken.💔💔💔@courtneyact and @JoshuaKeefe you were and always will be my true Winners!!!.
You were phenomenal every week, every dance .
The Leaderboard proves that, every week.

Courtney’s best bits
Act topped the leaderboard in her first episode of Dancing With The Stars Australia.
The host of The Bi Life wowed the audience with a jive routine to Feel It Still by Portugal The Man.
She and professional partner Joshua Keefe scored 23 out of 30 points.

Courtney also wowed audiences with a gender stereotype-busting performance.
She wore a pink dress, heels, wig and makeup. Keefe wore a full blue suit.
But, as the performance went on, Courtney threw off her wig in defiance.
Joshua then unwrapped Courtney’s dress through an impressive spin and she ran away to the mirror. She then grabbed a towel, threw off her eyelashes and wiped off all of her makeup.

Last week, Courtney performed her entire routine presenting as a male.
This was the first time Dancing With The Stars in Australia has seen two dancers presenting as male perform together.
The two performed a fusion Foxtrot/Tango to Britney Spears’ Toxic.
And, let’s not forget she also performed as every single Spice Girl:
