Courtney and Joshua were the final pairing to compete on tonight’s episode.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Tristan MacManus and Sharna Burgess said they ‘loved’ the dance.

Courtney is the franchise’s first drag act, but not the first same-sex pairing. Courtney is the first in Australia.

The show’s Italian equivalent, Ballando con le Stelle, saw an all-male team make it to the grand final.

Giovanni Ciacci, a well-known fashion designer, was paired by with professional dancer Raimondo Todaro.

Courtney has previously said she will be performing as Courtney and rehearsing as Shane.

However, she has hopes that she might perform at least one dance as a man.

She said: ‘I would want to be Courtney and dance with a male partner.

‘And then halfway through the series I’d come out as Shane and there would finally be same-sex dancing on the show.

‘I’ve seen same-sex ballroom dancing and it’s just as fabulous.’
