Ben Carson, a well respected figure in the US conservative movement, is certain people against same-sex marriage don’t have free speech rights.
The neurosurgeon was a guest yesterday (11 March) on the anti-gay Family Research Council show Washington Watch.
Host Tony Perkins asked Carson if the ‘PC police’ kept ‘many politicians’ from discussing ‘core value issues like marriage.’
‘People everywhere from politicians down to the lowliest person in our society… are terrified,’ Carson said, according to Right Wing Watch.
‘We, a nation of people who were brave, courageous, self-reliant, have become a nation of people who are looking around the corner saying, "Can I say this? Who is going to hear me,"’ the doctor continued.
Carson added speech rights are ‘escaping us.’
Like GSN pointed out last week with Michael Medved, too many conservatives have ceased being rational when the topic is gay marriage.
Dr. Carson, Representative Michele Bachmann, and countless others have made their opinions about marriage equality well known. None of them have served jail time or faced consequences. Their words were met with more words.
When US conservatives say ‘free speech’ they mean their prattle should never be disagreed with.
GSN loves when people blubber about something that isn’t happening.
