Florida is welcoming gay and straight families with an inaugural event for households needing a holiday.
Orlando is hosting Family Outfest this July, in what is being called one of the first corporate-sponsored events aimed at gay and straight families.
Disney has just been named as the latest in a string of event sponsors already including Hilton Hotels, Macy’s and Nickelodeon Suites Resorts.
Organizers are calling Family Outfest: ‘The first of its kind.
‘It is designed to bring LGBT and straight allied families together to experience the city, beautiful theme parks and other family-friendly activities found in Central Florida.’
Orlando is home to some of the world’s most popular family attractions including LegoLand Florida and the Walt Disney World Resort. Add the temperate climate and sunny US disposition, and it’s easy to see why Orlando is such a popular tourist destination, not just for families but for gay and straight individuals.
As a bonus to families looking to book OutFest, the discounted rates with Family Outfest mean families can save up to 50% in comparison to booking a reservation independently.
‘Our organization has been working hard at not only promoting Orlando as an LGBT friendly destination but also at making sure we create events that bring opportunities for the community, its businesses and its members, said Mikael Frank Audebert, Executive Director of Converge Orlando, in a statement.
Converge Orlando is the official LGBT Convention and Visitors Bureua for Orlando and Central Florida.
‘Family Outfest is one of the many we have in the pipeline and we are extremely excited to be bringing this inaugural event to Central Florida’.
Family Outfest will take place from 1 to 7 July with a mix of official events like Parents Night Out and Nick After Dark, combined with theme park outings and city tours.
