Donald Trump carries rainbow pride flag into Colorado rally

Donald Trump unfurled a rainbow pride flag at a rally in Colorado.

In the final days of his presidential campaign, Donald Trump is still claiming to be a friend to the LGBTI community.

The Republican nominee appeared at a rally in Greely, Colorado, over the weekend carrying a large rainbow pride flag which was emblazoned with this message: ‘LGBT for Trump.’

Trump’s past attempts to court the LGBTI community have not gained any traction likely because his actions have not signaled those of a pro-equality candidate.

According to the Human Rights Campaign, Trump not only opposes same-sex marriage but also has vowed to fill the vacancy on the US Supreme Court with an anti-marriage justice.

He has also campaigned with leaders of anti-LGBTI hate groups and has urged passage of the First Amendment Defense Act which would allow individuals, many businesses and nonprofit organizations to dodge federal protections and discriminate against LGBTI families.

Trump’s Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, wasn’t buying Trump’s latest rainbow flag gesture.

She tweeted: ‘Donald Trump says he’s “the real friend” of the LGBT community. Yeah, no.’
