Drag Race’s Michelle Visage and Alaska to star in film about gay porn star

Joey Stefano biopic in the works

Michelle Visage and All Stars 2 winner Alaska will star in a film about a gay porn star.

The two RuPaul’s Drag Race stars will have parts in the biopic about icon, actor and Madonna model Joey Stefano.

Chad Darnell, who has previously worked on films like Magic Mike XXL and Miss Congeniality 2, will direct the film.

It will tell the story of Stefano’s discovery by drag superstar Chi Chi LaRue, his rise to fame, being photographed for Madonna’s Sex book, and his drug overdose.

Visage will play Anita, a TV host providing a through-line for the film, according to Dazed.

Alaska will play Gender, a make-up artist who played in the band Johnny Depp Clones with LaRue.

Stefano, real name Nicholas Anthony Iacona, stated drinking heavily after his father died when he was 15. Arriving in LA, he immediately started working on porn and starred in 58 films.

He was spotted by Madonna, casting him in both her video for Deeper and Deeper and her Sex photography book.

Stefano died in November 1994 from a lethal mixture of cocaine, morphine, heroin, and ketamine. He was found dead in a motel room at 26 years old.

Charles Isherwood penned a biography called Wonder Bread and Ecstasy: The Live and Death of Joey Stefano. The film will be based on the biography, and is set for release next year.
