Dumbledore and Gandalf to marry across street from Westboro Baptist Church

Wizards Dumbledore and Gandalf are getting married on Sunday (7 June) at the Equality House in Topeka – which just happens to be directly across the street from the notoriously anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church (WBO).

The idea for the wedding came after Harry Potter author JK Rowling posted a meme of Professor Albus Dumbledore and Gandalf the Grey tying the knot after Ireland passed the gay marriage referendum.

WBC responded to Rowling on Twitter saying they would picket any such wedding.

‘Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls,’ she fired back.

Now, non-profit Planting Peace is going to make the marriage happen!

Topeka resident Daryl Hendrix will play Gandalf, and his partner, Nicholas Orozco, will  be Dumbledore.

Local businesses and organizations have even pitched in, providing a wedding cake, photographer and costumes.

WBO responded to wedding announcement on Twitter: ‘Dumbledore & Gandalf to marry at our neighbors: the #PanderingPervs @Equality_House. Well that saves travel expenses.’
