Ellen DeGeneres and Kathy Griffin feud heats up

Kathy Griffin has won two Emmys and a Grammy

The war of words between comics Ellen DeGeneres and Kathy Griffin shows no signs of stopping.

In her new book Kathy Griffin’s Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index, the comic talks about more than 120 stars but admits there is one female face she is afraid to name.

‘I’m almost positive a certain beloved daytime talk show host once had me kicked out of a backstage dressing room at the Emmy Awards,’ she wrote.

In various interviews she confessed that line is about DeGeneres. To hear Griffin tell it, the daytime host is not happy with the characterization.

‘She was furious,’ Griffin said to Access Hollywood. ‘She was really on a rant…”I don’t have to have anyone on my show I don’t want,”‘ Griffin said DeGeneres argued in a phone conversation.

The two funny woman also quarreled over the late Joan Rivers. Griffin and Rivers have never been consistent guests on DeGeneres’ show because the out comic allegedly considers both ‘mean comics.’

‘I don’t want Joan to be labeled as mean because she didn’t have a mean bone in her body,’ Griffin said.

Rivers died in September 2014, at the age of 81, after a botched medical procedure.

Ellen also allegedly expressed doubts about the Emmy Awards incident, but Griffin refused to back down.

‘This is my experience with you,’ Griffin recounted. ‘You’ve been mean to me. I’m not saying you’re a mean person across the board, but you can’t take away my experience.’

Despite all of this, Griffin continues to call for solidarity between female comedians of a certain age.

‘After the phone call I literally  started sobbing,’ Griffin said. ‘At the end of the day, whether we like each other or not, I’m always going to support a woman, over fifty, in the game, and making a great living.’
