Ellen DeGeneres jokes about the pros and cons about being the next Oscar host

Ellen DeGeneres has returned to hosting her popular daytime talk show and today (10 September) talked to her audience about being chosen as the next host of the Academy Awards.

DeGeneres, who had been on a summer hiatus, said that after being asked to host again – she was also Oscar host in 2007 – she made up a pros and cons list.

Among the pros is getting ‘invited to all the cool Oscar after-parties.’ But the con is ‘I like to be tucked in by 7:30.’

Another pro: ‘Lots of fancy designers will want to approach me and want me to wear a big expensive gown of theirs.

The con for the pantsuit-loving Ellen?

‘Ain’t no way in hell I’m wearing a gown!’

Then there is this pro: ‘The theater holds 3,000 seats.’

The downside?

‘It’s going to take 45 minutes to dance through all the aisles.’

DeGeneres also mentions, as a ‘pro,’ that Meryl Streep is likely to earn a record 17th Oscar nomination (it would actually be her 18th) for her acclaimed performance in August: Osage County.

But here’s the con: ‘#WeAreOverItMeryl.’
