Ellen Page has said coming out is the best decision she has ever made.
The Juno actress, who came out on Valentine’s Day last year, has spoken out about what it has been like to be open to the world.
‘I decided [to come out] because I was sad, I felt uninspired, I felt uncomfortable, it hurt relationships, I felt guilty for not being out, and it was time,’ she said during an interview in Rio De Janeiro for Carnival.
‘It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. I was immediately felt like a new person.’
Page said she has an overall feeling of ‘happiness and comfort and ease in the world and this weight that you don’t even realise that you’re carrying necessarily completely disappears.’
‘You just feel lighter in your life,’ she said.
When asked about her parents’ reaction, Page said: ‘They were thrilled – super supportive. I couldn’t be more fortunate.
‘A lot of people don’t have that, so I’m very lucky to have parents that love and support me.’
