A new short film from Norwegian writer-director Henry K. Norvalls reveals an honest and harrowing look at repressed homosexuality.
Clocking in a little over 7 minutes long, shot in one location, the film packs a powerful and disarming punch with little dialogue.
Aptly titled Shower, the foreign language short shows two men showering after a work out.
When one of them begins to hear strange noises, he investigates. What slowly, awkwardly, and realistically unfolds is an encounter that is raw and impacting.
However, the last few moments showcase a bitter and all too real ending for people navigating their sexuality in a cruel world. In just a few shots, the film explores internalized homophobia and fear of discrimination for being true to yourself.
Norwegian actors Svend Erichsen and Per Magnus Barlaug star in the film.
The project hit Vimeo two days ago and already has nearly 20,000 plays.
