Former boxer Evander Holyfield’s son is fighting back and defending his dad’s homophobia, saying he is not a bigot.
The former heavyweight champion, currently in the Big Brother house, is being heavily criticized after describing homosexuality as a ‘choice’.
He also compared it to a disability – saying it could be ‘fixed’.
But his son says Holyfield has a gay brother-in-law, who he treats like a ‘human being’.
Speaking to TMZ, Ewin Holyfield said: ‘My dad is the most loving and caring person you will ever meet.
‘He treats everyone like a human being … even if they are homosexual."
He added: ‘My dad feels that being gay is a choice … and naturally that’s how things work.
‘You cannot procreate and make a baby with two women, or two men. But at the same time, my dad is not going to judge someone for their sexual orientation.’
Holyfield was warned by the British reality show bosses a day after the conversation and could face being thrown out if he makes another ‘offensive’ comment.
In response, the athlete said: ‘Yes I understand why. I thought I was just, I forgot about the thing.
‘I was just telling her my opinion but it’s not like I was going to mention [it] to anybody else. It was just our conversation.’
