Joe Exotic marrying John Finlay and Travis Maldonado

Tiger King fans who can’t get enough of the crazy, gun-loving animal world of Joe Exotic have tracked down his wedding video on YouTube.

At the 2014 wedding, Joe Exotic married both John Finlay and Travis Maldonado in a three way ceremony.

The series shows brief moments of the unusual three-way ceremony. But the 23 minute YouTube has far more footage.

The Netflix documentary drama follows follows ‘redneck homosexual’ Joe Exotic, real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage, who created a roadside zoo.

In the series the major conflict is between Exotic and Carole Baskin, the owner of Big Cat Rescue. She accuses him of animal abuse.

Exotic is loving the attention the show has given him, despite being in jail for the attempted murder of Baskin. Likewise another LGBT+ staff member at the zoo, Saff, is also enjoying the attention despite fans misgendering him.

But Baskin has apparently refused to appear in the rumored live reunion episode. Netflix hasn’t confirmed yet if the episode will go ahead. However Baskin has said she won’t participate.

Meanwhile Exotic’s new husband Dillon Passage has also revealed he hasn’t been contacted to take part.

Corsages and guns

The wedding video starts with a spoof of the 20th Century Fox theme, with Joe Exotic’s name replacing the studio’s. The video also features Exotic’s country song I Saw a Tiger.

And it shows Exotic shopping for the wedding outfits and organising the hall. He declares ‘I just want to be surprised’ about the decorations.

The trio of grooms wear hot pink shirts with black trousers. Their accessories include white rose corsages, a cowboy hat, cap, shades and a gun in its holster.

The tables decorated with flowers in Mason jars and tablecloths to match the grooms’ outfits.

The wedding cake boasts a belt buckle decoration around it, with cowboy hats topping it. Meanwhile the cake’s base is surrounded by edible cowboy boots and butterscotch crocodiles.

Polyamory is as old as mankind

At the start of the ceremony, the celebrant declares:

‘I’d like to welcome you to a most unusual wedding.

‘In our society today, no wedding is really normal. Our diverse nation has blended together so many ideas of what it means to be married and how one goes about doing it that there is truly no one way to structure a marriage ceremony.

‘But even by modern standards where blended families are the new norm, where ceremonies evoke ancient customs alongside modern creations, where in a seemingly ever increasing number of states and countries anyone can marry the person they love, this is an unusual wedding.

‘Today we have gathered to witness the union of Travis, John and Joe. We are here today to offer our love and our blessings as they embark on the next phase of their lives together.

‘What they are about to do today is as old as mankind.

‘While modern humans may have invented the word polyamory, which means many loves, we certainly didn’t invent the idea.

‘Multiple adult relationships is as old as we are a species. Every major culture on the planet has had some form of multiple marriage. Every major religion has allowed it at some point and still do.

‘Know this, all acts of love are blessed and holy to the creator.’

A monkey ring bearer then reluctantly hands the three rings to the grooms and they light candles to complete the ceremony.

The video then shows the wedding feast and the grooms opening gifts and cutting the cake.

The three-way marriage only lasted a few years, however. Finlay later left the zoo and Maldonado died from a self-inflicted gunshot in October 2017.

Just two months later, Exotic married again. He wed Dillon Passage in December 2017.
