Fear The Walking Dead, companion series and prequel to The Walking Dead, took an unexpected turn on Sunday by unveiling a tender gay romance which proves to be the key to the mystery currently happening in the show.

In the latest episode of season two of FTWD, titled ‘Blood In The Streets,’ fans are given a throwback for one of the protagonists, Victor Strand, played by actor Colman Domingo.

*spoiler alert*

In the show, Strand is viewed by his peers as a mysterious character with a doubtable background, even though he’d saved their lives by putting them on his million-dollar luxury yacht, Abigail.

Some of them do not believe that Strand is capable of amassing all the wealth he possesses. And with the ambiguity of the destination they are headed to, trust continues to break down among the group of survivors.

However, in the throwback, fans are informed of Strand’s secret relationship with wealthy businessman, Thomas Abigail, played by actor Dougray Scott, who lives in Mexico.

This solves the mystery behind Strand’s wealth — his luxurious house and boat — as well as his secret mission to sail south from Los Angeles.

Now, the fate of the survivors on the yacht remains unclear, after being ambushed by pirates and had two of them taken away as hostage.

It is also unsure whether Strand’s boyfriend is still alive and waiting for him in Mexico.
