A Hialeah, Florida police officer has been suspended, with pay, pending an investigation he sexually harassed a 17-year old lesbian.
According to the Miami Herald, Sgt. Jesús “Jesse” Menocal Jr. stopped the minor, and her girlfriend, after they made an illegal U-turn.
The minor was told to get in the back of the police car, and the 20-year-old partner to follow and wait in the parking lot of the Hialeah central police station.
The youngster, who does not want to be identified, was taken to a room and she charges the officer told her ‘to take off my pants or I was going to get arrested.’
‘He said let me see your behind. He looks at me up and down and asked me if I was on my menstrual,’ the alleged victim said to CBS4 News.
‘I told him yes. How did you know? And he said he was asking me a simple question.’
Menocal allegedly asked the teenager if she were a virgin and how she had sex with her girlfriend.
The teen claims the officer ordered her to remove her shirt and bra. She refused and was released. She returned to her girlfriend’s car they immediately filed a complaint
According to Hialeah Police Chief Sergio Velázquez, Menocal was suspended last Sunday (14 June). The department is investigating the charges and is in contact with the Miami-Dade state attorney’s office.
‘This is a very delicate road … and we seek to be impartial,’ Velázquez said to the Miami Herald. ‘Our job is to get to the bottom of this. If it is proven that there was wrongdoing, the appropriate decision will be taken. Otherwise, he will return to work.’
Menocal is a SWAT team officer with eight years in the department. His father is a retired police chief.
