Franklin Graham blasts NBA for moving All-Star Game from North Carolina

Franklin Graham is blasting the NBA

The son on famed evangelist Billy Graham is blasting the NBA for moving next year’s All-Star Game from North Carolina because of the state’s anti-LGBTI law known as HB2.

‘The fact is this—the North Carolina legislators and Governor Pat McCrory are exactly right for protecting the state’s women and children from pedophiles and sexually disturbed people who are looking for opportunities to take advantage,’ Franklin Graham writes in a Facebook post.

‘This is basic common sense, but the NBA cares more about being perceived as politically correct and catering to sexual activists who are trying to use this situation as a scare tactic to gain leverage to change North Carolina’s law.’

Passed earlier this year, HB2 diminishes workplace protections for LGBTI people including blocking local governments from passing anti-discrimination laws. In addition, it requires transgender citizens to use public restrooms according to their birth certificate gender.

North Carolina and the federal government are facing each other in court over HB2 and the NBA had been pushing for a repeal of the law.

‘I think the NBA needs to realize that the safety of women and children is far more important than a ball game,’ Graham also writes.

‘They have every right to have their games anywhere they chose, but to move out of North Carolina to try to “punish” the state for protecting women and children is wrong.’

Graham is urging people not to watch the gane and to boycott products that sponsor it.

‘There are millions of Christians who love to watch basketball—and I’m one of them—but I can tell you now, I’m not going to watch their All-Star Game and I hope thousands of others will tell them that they’re not going to watch either.

‘And we need to let the sponsors of this All-Star Game know that we don’t agree with this decision and don’t have to buy their products.’

Graham is CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and head of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief agency based in Boone, N.C.

He has grown increasingly vocal in his anti-LGBTI views in recent years.

So far in 2016, Graham has blasted a fan movement to give Elsa a girlfriend in Disney’s sequel to Frozen and opposed turning Stonewall Inn a national monument, ripped on Bruce Springsteen for canceling a North Carolina concert due to HB2 and criticized PayPal for pulling put of the state.
