A gay couple were attacked in Paris as they kissed on the street. This makes it the second attack to happen in less than a month.
Two homophobes assaulted the pair as they kissed on the French capital’s 19th arrondissement (borough). According to a police source to French news site LCI, they were targeted because of their sexuality.
The alleged attackers fled after the assault. Police placed one of the perpetrators into custody. He will be tried for ‘wilful violence committed on the basis of the sexual orientation of the victims and the carrying of a category D weapon’.
Despite CCTV footage, LCI claims the second person was released due to lack of evidence.
The two victims were treated in the hospital for injures to their ribs and nose.
Two homophobic assaults
This comes after another homophobic attack on the city’s 20th arrondissement. Comedian Arnaud Gagnoud posted photos of his beaten face on Instagram after the attack.
The 27-year-old claimed that after leaving the theater, he hugged his male friend. A group of young people then hurled homophobic abuse at him.

The French star wrote: ‘A hug. Just a hug. It was 22:00.
‘A group of three young people, posted at about twenty meters, saw us. They stopped us. As we ignored them, they got closer. A flood of homophobic insults was coming out of their mouths. They demanded that we leave “their neighborhood” where “there is no PD here”.
‘As we refused to leave, the insults became more serious, more hateful. Then a fourth joined them. A kid who seems to be twelve years old. And he’s the one who called for reinforcements.
‘A scooter with our fifth and sixth attackers. Insults, shoving, threats. We do not give in. The scooter driver unhooks his helmet, removes it, and strikes me with it. Two blows to the head.
‘Everything is going very fast. The spectators of the theater see the scene, arrive by running, make them leave and shelter us.’
Arnaud says he suffered facial trauma, with bruising around the eyes. He needed 7 stitches.
Police placed two men – who are brothers – into custody.
