Gay bartender allegedly drugged and then beaten up in West Hollywood

Brandon Ackridge was brutally attacked in West Hollywood in May

A gay man says that he was drugged and then attacked after leaving a bar in West Hollywood.

Brandon Ackridge, who works as a bartender and go-go dancer in the area, describes that he blacked out after leaving Mickey’s bar located on Santa Monica Boulevard.

When he finally woke up, he found himself in the intensive care unit of a hospital with blood and bruises all over.

‘I remember coming out of the doors and that’s the last thing I recall,’ Ackridge told NBC News.

He also revealed that he only had two drinks that night, and that the blood report at the hospital showed that there were traces of date-rape drugs in his system.

‘The doctor said when he did my blood test the things that showed up in my blood were consistent with date-rape drugs. The reason they don’t think I fell is there’s no scrapes. It’s all clean bruises on both sides all the way down my body.’

Last month, another gay man was reportedly attacked in West Hollywood.

Christopher de la Cruz said that he was targeted by two masked men, beaten up, and even threatened with a knife to his face.

The men had also used derogatory anti-gay terms, he alleged.

The motive for Ackridge’s assault is still unknown, but he shared that he hopes there to be more security protecting the bar district in Boys Town.

He added: ‘It makes me want to stay home. It shouldn’t be like this. This is a beautiful place.’
