Let’s face it: 2016 has been a tough year. One meager highlight has been gay, former bobsleigh competitor Simon Dunn.
The 29-year-old Australian, who has now relocated to Canada, announced his retirement from competitive bobsleigh in November, and is now playing rugby and pursuing other interests.
He has also treated all his fans to a steady stream of Instagram photos that leave little to the imagination.
To show gratitude for all their support over recent months, his latest shot finds him in full-on festive mode.

‘Christmas has generally fallen in the middle of my bobsleigh season, so it’s usually a non-event’
Speaking to Gay Star News, Dunn said that Christmas this year will be a little different to usual, since his retirement from the bobsledding.
‘Christmas has generally fallen in the middle of my bobsleigh season, so it’s usually a non-event because I’m focused on training and I’m away from family. Unfortunately, since retiring I haven’t had the time to organize an alternate. So it’s probably just Netflix and wine for me.’
Asked what for his 2016 highlight, Dunn says, ‘I had to opportunity to travel lots. But I think marching with other out athletes in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras was the highlight. Marching alongside those I’ve looked up to was a huge honour.’
Previous to the bobdsledding, Dunn played rugby league with the Sydney Convicts. He’s now return to amateur rugby, and is looking forward to where it might take him.
‘My future and life is a little up in the air at the moment. So I’m hoping that 2017 brings more clarity to what it may hold.
‘I’ve been so focused on bobsleigh for the past few years so I’m looking forward to having the freedom to do what I want. I’m definitely looking forward to getting back into rugby again. ‘
