Hundreds of thousands of people descended on New York City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots and World Pride and brought their porn habits with them.

Naturally, that led to an increase in New York’s consumption of porn.

Major porn website, PornHub, recorded a big jump in how many people watched porn in the lead up to and during World Pride.

In the week leading up to the World Pride parade, gay porn consumption went up an average of 15%.

Statisticians analyzed traffic to the site based on who viewed gay (male) oriented video pages, and non-gay videos.

At noon when the parade began, traffic to gay pages was down 17%. While non-gay traffic fell 5% compared to an average day. That makes sense given about 150,000 people marched in the parade, while four million looked on.

New York City is Pornhub’s number one traffic source, so those numbers both reflect a massive fluctuation in visits.

What’s the story, morning glory?

But some interesting statistics revealed the time of day people were watching gay porn on the day.

More people watched gay porn videos in the morning before the parade with numbers peaking at an 11% increase at 8am.

‘As expected, in accordance with the influx of people to New York City to celebrate Pride 2019, we found that views of gay (male) videos in New York had already increased significantly over the preceding week,’ PornHub vice president, Corey Price told Gay Star News.

‘Moreover, ahead of the Pride March on Sunday, we found it interesting that traffic viewing gay videos was much higher than average in the early morning, by as much as +11% at 8am.

‘It seems as though many partygoers got a head start on the festivities on Sunday.’

Searches relating to Pride also saw big increases on 30 June 30 in New York. For example, ‘pride parade’ was up 1548% and ‘pride’ was up 1228%.
