Gay sex is ‘a sin that has a cure’ says Costa Rica human rights boss

The leader of Costa Rica’s human rights commission publicly claimed homosexuality is a sin that can be cured.

Justo Orozco, a Protestant minister and legislator, told national newspaper La Prensa: ‘Unfortunately I do believe that, because it was written in the Bible,’ said Orozco.

‘I have evidence. Here in churches in the province of Heredia I know someone like that who became straight.’

In fact most scientists and leading health bodies agree that gay ‘cure’ therapy does not work and can actually do serious damage.

Various organizations are critical of Orozco’s position on LGBT rights and have called for his resignation.

Marco Castillo, president of Movimiento de Diversidad, announced he will file with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH) in Washington.

Orozco’s statements come on the heels of his commission rejecting a bill that would give same-sex couples the right to inherit property, collect pensions and social security.
