Gay star Neil Patrick Harris chosen to host Tony Awards for the fourth time

Neil Patrick Harris and the Tony Awards have become such a winning combination that the multi-talented star has just been signed to host the show for the fourth time.

He said in a tongue in cheek statement: ‘I’m very excited to be back hosting the Tony Awards at the legendary Radio City Music Hall. It’ll be more impressive than ever—if my math is correct, it will be 267 times bigger than last year. Oh, wait. No, that can’t… hold on… carry the one… I’m awful at math. But rest assured, the show will rock!’

Best known for his television roles on How I Met Your Mother and Doogie Howser MD, Harris is also a bonafide Broadway veteran who in the years between his hit sitcoms starred in the musicals Assassins and Cabaret and in the playProof.

He also starred in the national touring company of Rent, appeared opposite Patti LuPone in a filmed concert version of Sweeney Todd and opposite LuPone again (as well as an all-star cast) in a 2011 limited fouyr-day engagement of the musical Company which was filmed and released theatrically.

This year’s Tony Awards will be held on 9 June at Radio City Music Hall and will be broadcast live on CBS.
