We are looking for a great journalist for one of the world’s best LGBTI media jobs – Travel Editor of Gay Star News.
You will get to be creative, help LGBTI people around the world and have some incredible travel experiences.
If you think you may not ‘fit in’ to LGBTI media, think again. We want our team to reflect the diversity of our amazing community. And we are well known as one of the friendliest teams in the LGBTI business world.
About you and the Travel Editor job
We need you to be an experienced print or digital journalist with a passion for LGBTI people and for travel.
If you have video presenting or production experience, that’s a big plus – if not, that’s OK provided you are keen to learn.
A big part of the interview will be getting your ideas for how to develop our travel section. It’s already respected around the world, but we want you to help us take it even further.
Part of your job will be to work with Gay Star News clients. You will help them develop compelling content for our audience. But mostly, you’ll be free to develop independent content to inspire, inform and entertain our audience.
This really is an amazing job. But just to manage expectations, it’s not about being on a permanent, all-expenses paid, holiday. You’ll get to travel, naturally. But you’ll also be commissioning other writers, from the GSN team and beyond, and be behind your desk to help make Gay Star Travel a go-to destination in its own right.
You’ll be focused on travel but have the chance to contribute content across GSN’s platforms and events, including news, features and more.
What do you get out of it?
This is your chance to earn a decent salary working full time in LGBTI media in our London-based office. (We’re sorry, but we are not interested in people offering to do this part time. Our Travel Editor is too busy for that to be possible).
This is a creative, fun environment, working with people who are really passionate about what they do. We all work together as one team, so you’ll have plenty of support.
Furthermore, our staff tend to love it here and stay. In fact, this job has only come up because our current Travel Editor wants a change of scene after several years in the job and has become our Entertainment Editor.
And finally, there’s lots of opportunity for growth. GSN is expanding rapidly and we expect that expansion to be even faster in future years. This is a place to build a great career.
