Gay TV host Richard Arnold voted off Strictly Come Dancing

Gay showbiz reporter Richard Arnold is the latest celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing.

The ‘Daybreak’ TV host and his dance partner Erin Boag left the British dancing competition after finishing in the bottom two alongside Westlife singer Nicky Byrne and newcomer professional Karen Hauer.

Both couples performed their routines for a second time in the dance-off in the Wembley Arena special.

Arnold performed his salsa to Wham!’s Club Tropicana, and Byrne jived to Elvis Presley’s Jailhouse Rock.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman all elected to save the boyband star, with Bussell saying: ‘Well they both performed very well tonight, but it has to go down to content and energy as well. I’m going to save Nicky and Karen.’

Arnold survived two dance-offs before being kicked off the show.

He said he had a ‘fantastic time’, saying: ‘I always thought I’d miss the wardrobe! But it is Erin I’m genuinely going to miss the most.’

Boag added: ‘Richard has made the last two months of my life a big joy.’

Sunday’s results show featured Australian gay icon Kylie Minogue performing a reworked version of her classic ‘The Locomotion’, and recently reformed Girls Aloud sang their comeback hit ‘Something New’.

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday (24 November).
