He’s previously said that he came out when he was 13, so was already very comfortable with his sexuality by the time he started making videos when he was 18. He has never made a ‘coming out’ video, as such, but has frequently talked about his sexuality.
Forbes says his wealth comes not only from YouTube, but also from a lucrative deal he struck with Ellen DeGeneres’ production company to work on new digital products.
His fans flocked to his recent world tour, Tyler Oakley’s Slumber Party, and a book of personal essays, Binge, became a New York Times best-seller.
Just last month, Oakley announced that he was lending his name to a new eyewear line with Warby Parker.
Forbes’s 2016 list is topped by Swedish gamer Pewdiepie ($15million/€14.1million), followed by: Roman Atwood ($8million/€7.5million); Lilly Singh ($7.5million/€7million); Smosh (Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox at $7million/€6.6million); and Rosanna Pansino (who tied with Oakley on $6million/€5.7million).
