RuPaul’s Drag Race season six alum Gia Gunn has celebrated updating her legal name and gender on her birth certificate.
The celebrity revealed she was trans in an emotional Instagram post marking Transgender Day of Visibility earlier this year.
Gunn started official proceedings to update her gender and name on her birth certificate in April.
‘Today is a new beginning! I had my official court appearance for my legal name to be changed to Gia…my wish was granted!’she wrote at the time.
Last week she confirmed her new birth certificate arrived with a photo and post on Twitter.
No document will ever validate or justify my gender, but I am so proud of myself for getting this done! See your LGBT center for help 🌈 pic.twitter.com/NxnGRIJyCH

‘No document will ever validate or justify my gender, but I am so proud of myself for getting this done,’ she wrote on Twitter.
‘Let’s be visible’
Gunn then went on to encourage people who needed assistance with their transition go to their local ‘LGBT center for help’.
The drag queen is now seen as an ambassador on trans issues and a positive role model.
‘Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey… if you are in transition, or struggling with your gender identity, I want to hear from you in the comments and let’s be visible,’ she said in her coming out video.
