GLAAD winners collect their awards in New York

New York was abuzz during the annual GLAAD awards as LGBTI alumni and international pop stars attended the event to see who took home which award.

The 25th GLAAD ceremony took place on 3 May and attracted star performers as well as the LGBTI nominees collecting their awards.

Among the stars at the ceremony were Star Trek icon George Takei, Hollywood actresses Naomi Watts and Emmy Rossum, trans actress Laverne Cox and 80s pop star Boy George.

‘Sexercise’ singer Kylie Minogue performed at the awards, as did Grammy-winning country singer Kacey Musgraves.

Takei was the star of the show, receiving the Vito Russo award recognizing his work towards equality.

Takei even tried to re-create Ellen DeGeneres’ infamous Oscars selfie with Kylie Minogue and other attendees at the awards and posted the picture on his Twitter feed.
