Activists from around the world will come together for an international conference on LGBT rights in Stockholm, Sweden.
Around 1,000 people have been invited to the 26th ILGA World Conference, which runs from 10 to 16 December.
This year’s theme will be ‘Global Rights, Global Respect’ and the event will celebrate important events of the last year, including the UN Human Rights Council’s historic summit on LGBT rights in March, as well as feature discussions on current and future challenges in the fight for equality.
In a statement, ILGA said: ‘It is evident that we as a movement have some challenges and important discussions ahead of us on how we as a movement act in solidarity without taking over the voice of those we advocate for.
‘These are discussions we will engage in at the conference in Stockholm.
‘In addition, we will get together and share experiences and best practice, learning from each other and creating stronger and sustainable networks.’
The conference will be hosted by RFSL, The Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Rights.
