Greater Fort Lauderdale is to host the next annual Southern Comfort Conference, America’s
largest transgender conference, kicking off at the end of September.
Now in its 25th year, the four-day festival is to be held in the Florida city not just this year, but for the next three years. The conference was previously held in Atlanta, Georgia.
This year, it’s expected to be attended by over 1000 members of the trans community from around the world, plus partners, spouses, friends and family members. It takes place from September 29 to October 3.
The event will include seminars, workshops and networking events, plus leisure actives such as sightseeing and nightlife.
Richard Gray, LGBTQ managing director for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau said: ‘As a destination that welcomes all people with a diverse, safe and open community, we aim to put trans people in the forefront of the LGBTQ community instead of being the often forgotten ‘T.’
He added: ‘We are educating lesbian and gay travelers, mainstream audiences and using our platform as a leader in the LGBTQ travel space to illustrate Broward County’s commitment and respect for trans individuals.’
