Guess which country’s been voted the best in the world (beating the UK at 3 and the US at 4!)

Did you guess correctly?

The world’s best country is Germany, according to a new survey of 16,000 people across 36 countries.

Canada is a close second, followed by the UK, the US and Sweden.

Russia came in at number 24.

The 60 countries in question were ranked on indicators including adventure, power, entrepreneurship, business performance, economic performance, quality of life, friendliness and sexiness.

The study was compiled by U.S. News & World Report, the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and global brand consultants BAV Consulting.

Algeria came last in the study; Ukraine was 59 and Iran 58.

The results were announced yesterday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The report notes that ‘Germany’s ascendance as a world leader comes largely from the work of [Angela] Merkel. Only the third German since World War II to hold the chancellorship for a decade or more, Merkel has shown decisive leadership on several issues.’
