Hillary Clinton already has the Grindr vote

Hillary Clinton has not yet formally announced her candidacy for President of the United States but she can already count on one block of voters.

Grindr users voted the former Secretary of State, US Senator and First Lady the ‘Straight Ally of the Year’ in the app’s third annual Best of Awards.

In contrast to the support Clinton received, Russian President Vladimir Putin was voted ‘Enemy of the LGBT Community’ – no doubt for his championing of Russia’s anti-gay propaganda law.

More than 1,100 Grindr users in the US, UK and Australia cast their votes between 21 November 21 and 1 December.

Singer Sam Smith, still fresh off getting six Grammy nominations last week, won in two of Grindr’s categories: ‘Best Coming Out Story’ and ‘Best Song of 2014’ for Stay With Me.

Another red-hot star, Neil Patrick Harris, was voted ‘Gay Icon of the Year’ for a stupendous 2014 that included his marriage to David Burtka, winning a Tony Award for Hedwig and the Angry Inch, co-starring in two movies, writing a memoir and being named host of the Oscars.

Straight male stars who are Grindr faves are Nick Jonas (‘Hottest Instagram Account’) and Zac Efron (‘Most Wanted Man in the Grindr Cascade’).

Ryan Seacrest, who identifies as straight, was nonetheless voted ‘Next Celebrity to Come Out’ by Grindr users. The American Idol host had a high-profile romance with actress-dancer Julianne Hough and has denied being gay.

Other ‘winners’ include: ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder for ‘Best TV Show on Air,’ X-Men: Days of Future Past for ‘Best Movie of 2014, Justin Bieber’s arrest was ‘Biggest Social Blunder of 2014.’ and Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were voted ‘Next Celebrity Train Wreck.’
