Holland Taylor knows that people are intrigued by her romance with Sarah Paulson.
She also knows they are going to be curious about the 32 year age difference between the two Emmy winning actresses.
Taylor is ready for them: ‘I can only say what the old comic said dating a very much younger girl like he always did: “You know what can I tell ya? If she dies, she dies.”‘
Taylor, 73, shared the line during an appearance on ABC’s The View on which she appeared to promote the Broadway play The Front Page.
Paulson had given a shout out to Taylor at the Emmys when she won for her performance as Marcia Clark in The People vs. OJ Simpson.
‘Holland Taylor I love you!’Paulson had said from the stage.
Taylor says the public support has been ‘wonderful.’
‘Sarah being part of the younger generation, she is very much standing on the right side of history,’ she said.
‘Her shout out at the Emmys was amazing and very, very moving. The public seemed to be very thrilled by it and it’s a new life – it’s a new time.’
It was last March that Paulson spoke out publicly about her love for Taylor.
‘What I can say absolutely is that I am in love, and that person happens to be Holland Taylor,’ Paulson told The New York Times.
‘There’s a poignancy to being with someone older,’ she said.
‘I think there’s a greater appreciation of time and what you have together and what’s important, and it can make the little things seem very small. It puts a kind of sharp light mixed with a sort of diffused light on something. I can’t say it any other way than there’s a poignancy to it, and a heightened sense of time and the value of time.’
