‘How to be gay’ according to Rose McGowan

‘Gay men are more misogynistic than straight men,’ said Rose McGowan.

The US TV actress, most famous for appearing in the series Charmed and dating rocker Marilyn Manson, sparked the fury of the LGBTI community when she made those comments during a podcast with Bret Easton Ellis earlier this month.

‘I see now people who have basically fought for the right to stand on top of a float wearing an orange speedo and take molly [MDMA].’

And a YouTube star was one of the gay men who was deeply offended by her comments.

Canadian YouTuber Brad Graham decided to take McGowan’s misguided comments and turn them into a tutorial called ‘How to be gay (according to Rose McGowan)’.

In the video, Graham addresses several of her comments to show how ridiculous they are. He asks his viewers to follow in McGowan’s view of gay men which means wearing speedos, taking drugs and riding around in pride floats.

‘Last but not least: be misogynistic,’ he says. ‘I think Rose really hit it on the head, us gays we’re all speedo-wearing, float-riding druggies. What can I say? Classic homo.’

McGowan did attempt to make an apology on Twitter after the furore she caused.

‘I’m speaking about MY experience as a disenfranchised activist. I apologize because I like speedos (they’re funny,) I like floats and I’d probably like Molly if I tried it,’ she tweeted.
