Ian McKellen posts sneak preview of movie adaptation of Cats the musical

Ian McKellen in a feather boa

Ian McKellen just shared an exciting sneak preview of the movie adaptation of the musical Cats.

The 79-year-old gay actor took to Twitter to post a photo of a clapperboard, with details of a possible scene of his.

He captioned the photo ‘December 2019’, which is a clear reference to the release date of the film – 20 December.

The movie adaptation of Wicked was originally supposed to come out on this date, but Cats took the position due to ‘unspecified reasons’.

It appears the date of filming this scene was actually on 7 December. But it looks like they were filming scene 18 on the day in question.

Tom Hooper is directing the movie, with a full star-studded cast. This includes Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden, Idris Elba, Judi Dench, Rebel Wilson and Jason Derulo.

Cats is about a single night of a tribe of cats who perform the Jellicle choice. They must decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.

Ian McKellen vs Taylor Swift

Ian McKellen previously revealed Taylor Swift kicked him out of an apartment.

He was staying at an apartment which was owned by Peter Jackson, the director of the Lord of the Rings. Swift purchased it and had him removed.

‘When I was living in Peter Jackson’s apartment in New York, Taylor Swift bought it while I was there and I was thrown out before I wanted to leave!’ Ian told Gay Star News.

‘That hardly puts me in Taylor Swift’s team, does it?’

It appears there’s no bad blood about it between the two though.

‘She bought [the apartment], she had every right to – I was just lodging there for free!’ he said.
