The second-annual Women’s March in the United States, a year after Donald Trump’s inauguration as president, was a rousing success.
Los Angeles had the biggest march with nearly 500,000 people in attendance. Everyone came ready to protest with smiles and fantastic signs.
The city also boasted plenty of celebrity speakers and entertainers. Allison Janney was there, along with Natalie Portman, Viola Davis, and so many more.
Broadway legend and actual Disney princess Idina Menzel performed at the rally held in front of City Hall after the march.
To the delight of many, she performed the truly inspiring number Defying Gravity from Wicked. Menzel originated the role of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, on Broadway from 2003 to 2005. The role earned her a Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical in 2004.
Prior to her performance, Menzel tweeted she was looking forward to ‘standing in solidarity with my fellow sisters’.
Looking forward to standing in solidarity with my fellow sisters at @wmnsmarchla on January 20th. Proud to share this moment in time with all of you! xo #hearourvote #powertothepolls #wmla2018 pic.twitter.com/kUDJjd9Z2X
